Brew tasters: These are brewed coffee samples that we provide in each coffee box, along with instructions to offer a modified at-home cupping experience. Samples are:
Half batch: Half a bag of coffee. A good option for trial tasting new coffee or when you just want enough for a single pot (~10-12 cups) or a couple pour-overs.
PEC: (pronounced “peck”). Stands for "Sojourner Private Events and Catering". We care about those special moments -- wedding ceremonies, office parties, or intimate gatherings. Consider us for one of your future events. Learn more here.
Polish: This is the final preparation performed on milk before pouring. It involves neutralizing bubbles and blending the milk by swirling for a glossy surface texture.
Pour over: (also drip coffee). It involves someone pouring hot water through ground coffee in a filter into a mug or cup. From the coffee grind size to the shape of the funnel supporting the filter, this method requires training, skill, and finesse. It takes time and is performed by hand, but the result is an extraction full of flavor and fragrance. Some believe this is the best method to produce a perfect cup of coffee.
Single-origin: This term is broad, but essentially means that the coffee originates from a single source such as a particular crop, farm, region, or country. What differentiates single-origin coffees from the rest is that you know where it comes from, who produces it, and its journey from being planted to being poured into your cup. We only provide single-origin coffees at Sojourner.
Taster cards: One double-sided taster card is included in each coffee box, providing a description of the taste profiles for Ethiopia and Burundi, two of our most popular single-origin coffee options.
- Two single-origin coffees, including one from the selection you’ve ordered
- One market control sample; that is, ground coffee from a traditional mass producer.
